Your Culture is Important to the Good Life

Rohn’s Six Essentials to a Good Life

“Language, music, ceremonies, traditions, dress. All of that is so vitally important that you must keep it alive. The uniqueness of all of us, when blended together, brings vitality, energy, power, influence, and rightness to the world”. (Jim Rohn on

We all have an identity that is formed from the cultures we inherit from our parents and extended family as well as our community. This cultural identity grounds us and forms part of our sense of belonging, of home.

Culture transmits the wisdom of hundreds of preceding generations to us.

However culture can also hand down less positive beliefs and behaviors. We need to discern what is valid and what is not about cultural heritage and reject that which may be negative and destructive.

All cultures have an abundance of the positive and uplifting which we can benefit from. If you are fortunate enough to live in a poly-cultural nation like the United States you can also benefit from other cultures.

I suggest we embrace our cultural heritages and learn from them. It will make life richer. It is certainly part of the good life.
