Unless You Change How You Are…

The late Jim Rohn said, “Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got”. There is nothing complex about this, like most of Rohn’s quotes, it is simple yet true and powerful.

We all want more; more money, more freedom, more influence, more happiness, more of everything we value. Some want more fame. But few people are willing to make the changes in themselves necessary to attain these desires.

Jim’s formula is simple enough:

You have what you have because of who and what you are.

As long as you remain who and what you are you will have little more than you have now; though you may find yourself having less.

If you want more you must become more. People do not like to accept this. They constantly search externally for more of what they want. They seek more from mentors, friends, relatives, their boss, their co-workers, and others. Often they seek more from the government.

It takes genuine insight to see however that you will only achieve more from within.

If you want to have and be more than you now have, then work on who and what you are. Improve yourself. Learn new skills and improve the ones you have. Work on your disciplines. Learn how others succeed in the ways you wish to succeed. It is only through your own self improvement that you can attain more for yourself.

If you want more you must be more.
