“They can because they think they can.” – Virgil

As far back as men have written their words the concept that our attitude is the single most important factor in our success has been expressed.

Whether it is Virgil, the ancient Roman poet who wrote these words 30 years before the birth of Christ, or Napoleon Hill who expressed the same concept in his axiom: “whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve”, the concept has been the same.

It is not, as some critics have observed, that mere attitude alone will guarantee success. One must follow up the attitude with study, self education, hard work, self discipline, persistence, and a number of other crucial habits and principles that define success.

And yet, without the positive mental attitude, without the formation of genuine belief that one will succeed at one’s endeavor, success remains elusive. While believing may not be the only requisite for success, it is one of the indispensible ones.

First and foremost, you must believe you can.
