We are all familiar with the TGIF sentiment – Thank God It’s Friday. While we all welcome a break from the work a day world it seems sad that so many people suffer through the work week living for the weekend.

What kind of life do we live if we only enjoy 28% of our lives? What does it take to say TGIM! (Thank God It’s Monday)

When young people ask me about finding the ideal job my answer is always the same: find a line of work you thoroughly enjoy. It may be your passion in life or it may not, but at least it ought to be something you will enjoy. It ought to be grand enough to make you look as forward to Monday morning as you do to Friday afternoon.

If you get excited about what Monday morning will bring you have achieved one of life’s greatest accomplishments. Your work week is not the dregs, it is a vital and stimulating part of your life. You can still look forward to the well earned rest of the weekend, but if you dread Monday morning isn’t it time to ask yourself if you really want to spend the rest of your life suffering through 70% of the week? Isn’t it time to take stock and ask yourself what would make you look forward to Monday?

Life is short. Make the most of it. Find a line of work that you enjoy and that makes you think, TGIM.
