I talk to you a lot here about all the reading you need to do, all the planning you need to do, and all the execution and implementation you need to do – and you will be reading a lot more on all that in the coming posts on the Creating True Wealth series.

There is another important thing you need to do. You need to do it every day and you need to do it more every week. It is rest. Rest is the way your body recharges. Rest gives you the energy to hit the road running next day. Rest catalyzes your imagination and creative processes and it calms you.

True Wealth, after all, is about more than just money and things and success. True Wealth includes peace of mind, satisfaction, the enjoyment of time well spent, friends, family, reading, gardening, and other hobbies and recreations that you enjoy.

If you wait until you have arrived to rest you will never rest. If you wait until you are financially secure to rest it may well be too late. If you wait for anything before you take time to rest, you are losing a valuable part of your life.

Spend some time each day in rest. Also spend time each week resting. For me it is Sunday – my rest day. No big ambitious yard projects, no going into the office, no slaving away. Sunday is a day to engage in relaxation, socialization and rest. If you are religious it may also be a time to worship.

However you define rest – however it works best for you, take your time to rest – it will improve the quality of your life.

Wishing you Success and Prosperity,

Daniel R. Murphy
