Message #200 – Control What You Can

“There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.”
– Aldous Huxley

Just had to mention that this is entry #200 in the blog. I hope you are enjoying the content. You will continue to see more book reviews and articles here on success, leadership, self improvement and building wealth. Your comments are always welcome.

Here is a thought that you will find in thousands of books about success and performance – the only thing you can really control is yourself. We commonly spend great amounts of energy (and sometimes money) trying to control other people. You certainly can influence others and even at times persuade them. It is an illusion however to believe you can control others.

If you want to change a situation you will accomplish far more changing yourself than anyone else. Changing yourself is totally within your power and control. It is the most powerful and effective way to change your circumstances.

The first step in changing yourself is taking an honest appraisal of what you are less effective in and then resolving to make changes. This takes effort, time and discipline but the payoff can be immense.

The next time you feel that “something has to change here” look first at yourself where you will have the most control.
