Decide What You Want

You must decide what you want. If you do not, your efforts lack a goal and you may go in different directions without a coherent plan.

What do you want to accomplish? What do you want to experience? What do you want to contribute? What do you want to acquire? What do you want to be?

Most people set their sights low. They take the safe road. They aim for what they are sure they can accomplish or acquire to avoid failure and disappointment. If you aim low you usually strike lower. Aim high – this is a wisdom you will read and hear often from those who accomplish much in this world. It is an axiom of successful people. Aim high and you are more likely to hit where you want.

If you really want to be a doctor do not aim for less. If you want a million dollars do not ask for less. If you want true love do not accept less. Aim high, higher than you can imagine you will land.

Take care not to live out someone else dreams, whether it be a parent, spouse, friend or other person in your life. Reflect upon what you like, what you are challenged by and what you truly want. If you do not know what you truly want spend some introspective time discerning what you want.

Decide what you want out of life. Make it big. Make it bold. Ask for all you seek. Work toward it. Strive for it. Be persistent. If it is your genuine dream and if you work hard and long for it, you will likely achieve it.

Lastly, if you have a dream, especially a bold dream, there will be those who wish to take it away from you. There will be those who wish to squelch it. Do not let them! Hold onto your dreams and live them. Ignore the naysayers. Disregard those who are negative and say you cannot possibly achieve that.

Sit down as soon as you have time, perhaps right now. Write down what you believe you truly want. Put that paper away and bring it out from time to time to reflect upon it and to make plans to attain it. Know what you want, strive for it, do not give up, and it can be yours.
