Civilization

We read a lot of criticism about our institutions, culture, governments and all the other things that make up our civilization. How often do we value what we have?

Seth Godin recently wrote a short blog entry (well, short for Godin) on this and he has it right – civilization has brought us much and we would do well to value it and nurture it.

All our efforts at building wealth and success depend on a stable civilization as Godin observes. Maybe we should spend less time accumulating stuff and more time promoting the good of our time.

That is not to say that things could not be better. There is always room for improvement and we should always seek to improve. But let’s not lose sight of all we have accomplished, of all the progress we enjoy in today’s world.

Read Godin’s take on this.
