Being Thankful

Thursday is Thanksgiving. I will be having turkey dinner with family. I am and will be very thankful for all I have. I invite you to join me in being thankful.

Strange as it may sound, one of the most important aspects of true wealth is to be grateful for what you have. True wealth is appreciating what you have and who you have. By appreciating your current good fortune, no matter how small it may seem to be, you are learning to be happy with what you have. It is fine to want more, to desire to improve you lot. Much of what we discuss here is about improving your situation, building success leading to your being in a better situation a year from now then you are today.

However nothing about this desire to improve one’s lot in life should take away from your ability and willingness to enjoy what you have now. As so many wise people have observed, happiness is not a final destination. Happiness is a state of mind and it is experienced on your journey.

I feel better off in so many ways each succeeding year. I am very grateful for all of that. I hope you also find gratitude in your heart this Thanksgiving.
